Paying For Television Coverage

August 8, 2012

In an earlier post, I noted that the LPGA’s Jamie Farr Toledo Classic was not going to be on television because the sponsors decided not to pay for it. That’s right: LPGA tournaments pay to be on television. It turns out that the cost would be $500,000. Given that, the sponsors decided that the money was better used by giving it to local charities.

It had to be a difficult choice: Get tv coverage or help out the charities in tough times.
