Oxford Golf Shirt Review

Oxford Golf Shirts
Grade: A
Teacher’s Comments: Nice Fabric, Vibrant Colors

Oxford Golf isn’t one of the big golf apparel names—yet. Based on what I’ve seen from the company, though, that soon could change.

As part of a promotion for the launch of the new Oxford Golf website, the company was nice enough to offer to send one of their shirts along to me for a review. My choice was the vibrant Limelight green “Swords” polo you see above.

The shirt is constructed of CoolMax fabric, and has an interesting woven “plaid” texture. It is soft, comfortable and—after a long power walk—dry. The material also boasts an anti-microbial finish that’s supposed to repel odors.

Fit is good. The large size is roomy on my frame without hanging loosely—just the way I like it. A golf shirt should have enough room for a big shoulder turn and follow through. Mrs. GolfBlogger—the seamstress—approves of the way the shirt is stitched together.

I also like the fact that the logo is understated—just a small crest on the sleeve. I absolutely hate being a billboard for fashion designers.

What really catches my eye about the clothing line, though, are the variety and the colors. The performance golf shirts come in seven different “styles” in a terrific array of rich, bright colors. The line also has sport shirts, fleece, pants, shorts and belts. I could easily fill my closet with these clothes. Thing One, the GolfBlogger’s teenager, really likes the orange shirts.

On the PGA Tour, David Toms is the company’s major brand ambassador.

The company sells the clothing in pro shops around the country as well as on its site.

Interestingly, Oxford Industries started life in 1942 as a manufacturer of military uniforms. In addition to the Oxford Golf line, the company also owns one other brand I recognize: Tommy Bahama. I’ve always admired their stuff, too.
