Origin of the Golf Term Eagle
In golf, an “Eagle” is a score of two under par on a hole. The term is one of a series of avian golf references stemming from the term “birdie” (and including Albatross and Condor).
It probably refers to the fact tat two under par is a “big birdie,” and an Eagle is a large bird.
