Noodle Plus Golf Ball Reconsidered
TAYLORMADE Noodle + - 2 For $25
Last Spring, I reviewed the Noodle Plus Golf Ball and noted that they were one among many good balls available for the mid handicapper. But all through the past season and this spring, I continued to
Last week, I was in my local golf shop and noticed a box of the Noodle Plus on sale. Always a sucker for a sale, I bought some.
So I put the ball in play this past weekend, and promptly went out and shot an 89—my lowest of the season. The two young guys I was playing with basically accused me of being a sandbagger for playing from the white tees.
Naturally, being as superstitions as any golfer, I intend to continue playing the Noodle Plus until all my luck with it runs out.

Glad you posted a golf ball review, because I have a reconsideration as well. Not exactly a reconsideration, but just a report on exactly where I thought this ball would fit.
The Callaway HX Hot Bite. Previously reporting that this ball has an issue with durability, but that for spin it easily matches the ProV1, and for distance, it almost is on par with the HX Hot. I picked up two dozen for $45 (I think they are closing out) - specifically for playing in the bracketed match play at my club. I have usually been playing the HX Hot Bites for regular play- very durable, and the longest ball by far- but it won’t stop ($21.99 for logo overrun dozen at Golfsmith). For most events and when I need a change I play ProV1s - incredibly durable and spinny, but doesn’t go like the HX Hot Plus.
For me, the Hot Bite is the tweener of the HX Hot Plus and the ProV1. I think the Hot Bite is longer than the HX Hot, well longer than the ProV1, but shorter than the HX Hot Plus. But the weakness is the durability, I have recently played 45 holes on a ProV1 which looked new when it went in the drink, and close to 36 holes with a HX Hot Plus before losing it. The Hot Bite probably won’t last a round, or at least much more than one without significant cuts and scuffs.
Anyhow- played with this ball for the first time in six months- and I shot lights out for the first 8 holes. 2 over par at the end of 8. Then I ran through the fairway on a drive on #9, and during recovery sank a ball - ended with a life low of 41 on the front nine. The back nine was a little rougher with a 47, but this was due to loss of concentration and nerves - I took a 3 foot putt on #17 for 4 and turned it into a 6 - (a 5 would have ended the match 2 & 1). I lipped another hole from two feet (I claim both of these were too close for my putting!) I won on #18 by two holes with a 20 foot birdie.
Anyhow, lost one ball on #9, one has a slight cut (from a 5-iron no less!) - and the ball I finished with I will start the next round with. Usually I play a round with 1 or 2 balls, 3 is rare for me. But as for the performance, I have to say, the Hot Bite doesn’t disappoint. I am hoping the closeout is because there is a more durable Hot Bite Plus on the way, but since I don’t think Callaway ever really hit it off with the Hot Bite, I am guessing it is going the way of the dodo bird. and I will probably pick up 4 dozen or so for future tournaments.
