Mizuno MP-52 Irons
MIZUNO Mizuno MP 52 Iron Set 3-PW with Project X 5.5 Steel Shafts
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I wish I had the game to play with a set of Mizuno’s beautiful players’ clubs. My best bet more likely one of their game improvement models like the MX-950.
But I digress.
The new MP-52s are a players’ club and recently led Performance and Looks/Sound/Feel categories in Golf Digest’s 2009 Hot List. One play tester commented “Excellent across the board. Forgiveness in longer irons was exceptional.”
Mizuno says that the MP 52 irons are the most playable MP irons the company has ever produced. Two design features are at the heart of this:
First, there’s a Dual Muscle Pad. The out pad helps to create a low and deep center of gravity, making the club easier to hit. The inner muscle pad offers enhanced feel and feedback.
Second, two crescents milled into the clubhead allowed Mizuno to redeploy 14 grams of mass to a position that is lower and deeper, allowing increased performance on mis-hits and a higher launch.
The real secret to Mizuno’s success, however, is that it’s made of grain flow forged 1025E select carbon steel—allowing for a feel that’s unmatched in all of golf.

I bought the MP-62’s a couple of weeks ago. I’ve only been on the course once with them, but they are so nice. When you catch the ball pure, you know it. I was hitting my irons really well the day I played them, so I only had about 3 or 4 iron shots that I didn’t hit well and could feel it. One of those shots was over water, and the miss hit still had enough to get over the water.
