Miller’s magical Open

June 11, 2007

Johnny Miller’s 63 at Oakmont in 1973 may have been the single greatest round in US Open history. Coming on one of the toughest courses in the United States, on Sunday only made it more special.

You can bet that round will be talked about a lot this next week as the US Open returns to Oakmont. Miller, of course, now is a golf analyst for NBC.

AP Golf Writer Doug Ferguson, who always can be counted on for solid golf writing, offers a good look back at that day.
