Mental Mondays: Compensate For An Uphill Lie

July 4, 2011

The uphill lie requires a planning to play effectively. The most important thing is to align your body with the slope of the ground. This allows your swing to follow the slope down and then back up.

Second, in aiming, you need to compensate for the fact that your altered stance will tend to push the ball left.

Finally, remember that the slope will effectively increase the loft of your club. Compensate by taking more club than you usually would at that distance, and moving the ball to the center of your stance.

This tip is an excerpt from The Five Inch Course: Thinking Your Way To Better Golf. The complete book is available in Kindle format at Amazon.com.
