Mental Mondays: Commit To Your Shot

August 29, 2011

In golf, as in so many things, indecision is a killer. Once you’ve decided on a shot, commit to it wholly. If you can’t commit completely, chances are it’s not the right shot.

Failure to commit causes your brain to send mixed signals to your body. If you’re thinking about two target lines, your body won’t know which one to work on. If you can’t decide whether to hit it hard or soft, you won’t do either effectively.

If you find yourself in a state of indecision when setting up, step back and refocus. See if Plan B looks any better at that point.

Two time Masters winner Bernhard Langer once said: “Be decisive. A wrong decision is generally less disastrous than indecision.”
