MacGregor MT Mid Iron Set
I saw the latest MacGregor irons at GolfSmith a week ago. They’re very nice looking, and at $399, very reasonably priced. If you’ll recall, GolfSmith bought the MacGregor name last year, so I can only assume that these are the first products from the “new” Golfsmith-MacGregor.
The MacGregor MT Mid Irons are a game improvement set, with a shallow profile, medium offset and a wide sole with a deep undercut cavity. The 17-4 stainless steel body has a “Cup Face 360” technology, which means that there are no welds on the face, increasing the size of the “sweet spot”. The Cup Face in the MT Mid design features a slightly triangular muscle in the impact area which GolfSmith says further fine tunes power and feedback at impact.
I hope GolfSmith continues to produce quality clubs for the MacGregor line. It’s a historic nameplate that deserves to continue on into the future.
