MacGregor M85i Irons
MACGREGOR M85i Iron Set 3-PW with Graphite Shafts
GolfSmith bought the venerable MacGregor line last year, and their first offering in irons is interesting.
The M85i irons feature a deep undercut cavity with what GolfSmith describes as MacGregor’s “classic wing back design.” It does, indeed, harken back to the shape of the muscleback on the MacGregor Tourney clubs.
As with most clubs designed for a variety of handicaps, these feature a low center of gravity and stronger lofts for distance. There’s also a vibration dampening medallion.
I’m not sure I like the green trim on the back, though. I associate MacGregor with a much cleaner look.

They’ve got that sort-of-Callaway look.

Pappy, I think you’re right on that one.

Hadn’t you guys better try them before knockin’ ‘em? I hit them and they performed extremely well, forgiving, soft feel, plenty of distance, and superb accuracy.
