Limited Flight Golf Balls Still In Development

September 8, 2005

Last April, the USGA sent letters to all of the top golf ball manufacturers asking them to submit prototype balls that would fly 15 and 25 yards shorter than the standard.

The LA Times reports that, to date, none of the 35 manufacturer have submitted a ball. The USGA says that it still expects the companies to cooperate. The balls apparently are all still in development.

In Washington, on Capitol Hill, this would be known as a filibuster. The companies could avoid the whole thing by keeping the balls in development limbo.
