Is Women’s Golf A Major Sport?

The Bradenton Herald has a debate on whether women’s golf should be considered a major sport.
Sadly, I think that there are a lot of people out there who would debate as to whether even men’s golf is a major sport.
The answer to both is yes.
Golf, I think at this point has more right to the title major sport than Hockey.

There’s no doubt that the LPGA and women’s golf are a major sport. You need look no further than the Wegman’s Tournament in Rochester, NY each year. $1.5 million purse, and fairways lined with fans from Wednesday to Sunday.
What I’d like to see in the future is a co-ed Ryder/Solheim Cup type Tournament. Have the best men and best women play together in an International tournament.
