Just as baseball has the Major Leagues, the Triple A, Double A and Single A levels, golf has its different tours. The PGA Tour, of course, is the equivalent of the Majors; the Nationwide lines up with the Triple A level; and the various mini tours with the lower minor leagues.

Like baseball’s minors, the mini tours afford players the opportunity to make a minimal salary while honing their skills. Apparently, a good player on these tours can make as much as $100,000 a year.

Interestingly, baseball doesn’t have an equivalent of the Champions Tour—although I suspect that many would pay to see some of the heroes of their childhoods play—even with diminished skills.
