Golf Games: Sudden Death

October 5, 2011

Sudden Death is an interesting format for scramble golf outings. Each team tries to complete as many holes as possible before scoring a bogey. Once a team shoots bogey, it’s game over. They can continue playing if they like, but that team is out of the running. The team that makes it through the most holes without a bogey is the winner.

This works only on outings where every team starts on the first tee. In a shotgun start, some teams are going to start on the higher handicap holes, putting them at a disadvantage.
