Glad the Pro-Ams Are Over

February 12, 2007

Is anyone else glad that the Pro-Ams are over? I realize their importance to the Tour in terms of public and corporate relations, but as a fan of the sport, I can’t stand them.

  • If it was just a one day event, it wouldn’t be so bad.  But I would have much rather they spent more camera time on the pros.  Danny Ganns ran out of material and was repeating himself.  That was really, really boring.  And his Dr. Evil impressions made no sense.  He missed a putt and called it evil.  But if Dr. Evil calls something evil, then it should be a compliment and it should have benefitted him.  It shouldn’t be a missed putt.  Anyway, you can tell I’ve had my fill of the pro-ams if I’m analyzing it this much.

  • I give the pro golfers credit for playing in these.  Most of them are just ridiculous.  I have played in these where the amateurs act like they own the course and the pros just because they have paid to play in the pro am.

I really wish that they did not have them.

  • it’s completely intollerable.  watching kevin costner, dressed like he’s playing a bobby jones role, chipping over a green and then bantering with the crowd.. i’d rather just not watch.
i excercised that option many times over the last few events.
