Dana Quigley Profile

August 20, 2005

Dana Quigley, who never amounted to much on the PGA Tour, has hit it big on the Champions circuit. Totally dedicated, he played in 264 consecutive events before missing the Senior British Open in Scotland this year. And he has won more than $11 million in eight seasons as a senior.

The Seattle Post Intelligencer has a nice profile on the Champions Tour Ironman.

What I find most interesting about the profile is that Quigley says there are two classes of players on the Champions Tour: players who “graduated” from successful PGA Tour careers, and players who—for one reason or another—never made it on the PGA Tour, but are finding success in the Champions Tour.

Quigley says that “They feel like we’re stealing their money.” “THEY” are the players who have come from the PGA. The “WE’RE” are the club pros who have found themselves late in life.

Interesting. Cliques on the Champions Tour.
