Custom Fitting To The Rescue

January 3, 2005

As a semi-professional golf club maker (I make money, but not a living), the Golf Blogger is a big fan of custom fitting. A set of custom fit component clubs beats an off-the-rack set any day of the week. (The clubs used by tour players are NOT the same that you buy at the proshop. Theirs have been bent and tweaked six ways to Sunday.).

But now even the big boys are getting the message. This article discusses efforts by Ping, Callaway and Tour Edge to apply custom clubfitting techniques to their equipment lines.

It’s all done in the name of making the game easier to play. And that’s a critical point. Each year, as many golfers leave the game as start it. The main reason for quitting: it’s too hard.
