Cobra Optica Putter
I played with a guy who had a Cobra Optica putter yesterday evening, and he graciously let me putt for several holes with it. In the end, I concluded that it’s a neat gimmick on a so-so putter.
The gimmick is that the alignment line that runs perpendicular to the club face consists of a series of glowing green fiber optic pinpoints. Apparently light enters the pinpoints, then is amplified and returned. The look really is amazing. I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.
But I don’t think that it’s necessarily superior to the traditional black or white line, or to Odyssey’s two or three ball alignment tool.
I also wasn’t particularly enamored with the club itself. The shape wasn’t appealing to me, and I thought that the head felt a bit light.
Still, I’d have to play with one a lot more before being able to write a definite review. So the verdict is still out.
