Coaches Beat Cancer Golf Outing

Coaches Beat Cancer is a cause that coalesces two of my more fervent interests: West Virginia University and Golf

The Coaches Beat Cancer Golf Outing offers rounds of golf with top college coaches at the legendary Oakland Hills Country Club. Bidding for these rounds starts at $10,000. Winning bidders will enjoy the opportunity to play with their selected coach at Oakland Hills, and to stay at the Motor City Casino in nearby Detroit.

My choice would be a round with Bob Huggins, from my alma mater, West Virginia University. In a bit of serendipity, Huggins, who is a graduate of WVU, was once a student of my grandfather, who was a professor there. I remember him speaking of Huggins as a player and as a student.

If only I had a spare ten grand. It would be the experience of a lifetime.
