  • There are several guys in my league who use them.  If I had some pricey forged irons, I’d consider them, too.  My irons are cast and don’t “ding” too easily from bouncing around in the bag.  I think forged clubs would look ratty pretty quickly, though.  If someone wants to give me set of MP-57’s, I’d be happy to field-test them!

  • Used to. Got to be too much of a hassle. But Bruce is right - if I had a pricey forged set instead of my 15-year old cast irons, I’d consider using them.

  • You pound and scrape your clubheads into the turf 18+ times a round.  Then you wipe the dirt off with a dirty towel.  Finally, the club head is inserted into its protective little rubber sleeve.

    Maybe the knocking together of the clubs in the bag is more damaging than driving the clubhead into the turf at 75+ miles per hour, but I doubt it.  Over the course of a couple years and several hundred rounds, the irons are going to get a bit knicked up and I can’t see that those protective sleeves are going to keep the clubs looking like new.
