Cigars are a part of the uniform in my golf league. Virtually everyone smokes one (The GolfBlogger, mind you, does not. I’ve got no real objection, I just never started). What really disturbs me, though is that many of these guys lay the cigar down on the grass to take their shot. That means the cigar is picking up chemicals used on the fairways and greens, and then ending up in the smokers’ mouth. Worse, perhaps, is that these chemicals are being burned. I don’t think anyone has any notion of the effects of burning insecticides on the human body.
The Cigar Minder might help solve that issue by holding to your cigar and clipping to the golf cart, to your push cart, or your bag.

It is especially nice when smokers lay their cigars or cigarettes on the green and leave a nice little burn mark. Any product that might get smokers to keep their flames away from the grass is a plus.
Now we need some great product that serves as a traveling ash tray. Many courses are littered with butts and half smoked cigars. I don’t mind someone smoking, just don’t use the course as an ash tray.

The cigar minder also works to hold your cigar even if you can’t clip it to a cart or some other object. The width of the clip is such that you can just stand it on end, and if you clip in the middle of the cigar, it will stand upright and hold your cigar horizontal.
I occasionally put down my cigar on the ground, (most of my group does) - usually if I don’t have the clip, then I will use another club to keep the end I put to my mouth off the ground, but sometimes I don’t. Not really crazy about the insecticides and such, usually I try not to think about the effects (if I did, I probably wouldn’t be smoking the cigars in the first place).
Not to be too pessimistic, but I am starting to wonder how wise it is to worry about my health in a way which would extend my life into my 80s or beyond. Losing my pension a couple years ago, and losing half my savings this year - I am not sure I can afford more than about 10 years of retirement anyway!
