CALLAWAY X-Tour Wedge - Vintage

CALLAWAY X-Tour Wedge - Vintage

Here are the clubs played by the Wizard of Wedges himself—Phil Mickelson. Designed by Roger Cleveland (now isn’t that interesting. Cleveland designing for Callaway), the X-Tours offer a super soft feel with their 1020 carbon steel forging. You can even get them with a special Phil Mickelson (PM) Grind.

Goofy smile not included.

  • How could a wedge possibly be worth $120?  I am a brand name nut who has all Callaway equipment, including a Callaway Forged Sand Wegde (2 models back from the X-Tour wedge).  I bought it on closeout for $50 when the Forged+ came out.

I probably don’t use this club as often as many would, because I am hitting a 9-iron at 125, and rarely am I making an approach closer than that-- so maybe I don’t see the worth.  I am wanting to get a gap wedge (for when I am 70-90 yards out), and wonder what differentiates these Callaway wedges from a $50 wedge from another make-- or maybe if I have to ask, then it isn’t the wedge for me.

  • During the forging process, they fold into the metal a small amount of distilled essence of Phil wedge mojo. This can only be extracted from Phil during a long and painful process, thus the high prices
