Callaway Tour ix Ball
Callaway Golf HX Tour ix 12 Pack Golf Balls
Callaway’s new HX TOur ix ball is a four piece, dual core technological wonder. Around the inner core is a tungsten-infused outer core that’s supposed to shift weight away from the center, reducing driver spin. The result is more distance and straighter shot. In addition, Callaway has refined the HEX aerodynamics pattern to further reduce drag and increase stability.

I have never liked the high end Callaway balls, but I am ready to try this one with a somewhat open mind. I don’t play with the $4 balls very often, usually a found or event gift ProV1- occasionally I will buy a sleeve of ProV1s-- When I have played with the HX Blacks I have never found them as good as the ProV1s-- I am however seeing more folks playing with the high end Callaways lately at the club, but not as many as the ProV1s. And I have noticed that the TopFlite D2s after being so prominent last year, have become fairly rare again.
I have to admit of being very disappointed in the HX Hot Bite as I posted in the forums. I played again with it yesterday, and the temperature was up to 74, and it played pretty well, maybe better than the HX Hot- but while I didn’t hit a cart path for the 9 holes or so I played it, it still got fairly beat up in comparison to the other $20-$30 balls. The other ball I was playing was a 2007 TaylorMade TP Red, which I had played at least 27 holes on, and while I completely wore off the sharpie putt line, it still was shiney new.
BTW Blogger- Walked 3 rounds in 3 days. I feel pretty good. After day 2, I really wondered if I could make it for holes 37 to 54- but I switched to a tennis shoe based golf show (Nike shox)- and after some initial soreness last night I felt pretty good. The game on the other hand did suffer, Day 2 was one shot worse than day 1- and I dropped another 13 shots on Day 3-- but I did have some of the best shots in some time. Since Christmas, I have probably walked 15 rounds - ridden 1 (in a scramble) - lost 30 pounds as of today.

I’m not enthusiastic about upper level balls of any stripe. I honestly don’t believe that they well suit my game. But I’m excited about the wide choices of balls now out there for the mid-range: TaylorMade, the new HXs, the new TopFlites and Callaways.
As for the golf. I’m jealous. Thanks to my stress tests and the like I was unable to get to Tennessee over winter break to play. I’m thinking about getting down there for Easter break.
