Callaway Big Bertha Diablo Golf Balls
The new Big Bertha Diablo is a two piece distance ball that replaces traditional dimples with Callaway’s patented HEX system. This is supposed to reduce drag and promote a more penetrating ball flight. It certainly works for the HX Hot line, and I see no reason why it wouldn’t work here.
The ball also features what Callaway calls a “High Resiliency Core”, a rubber formulation which is supposed to increase ball velocity through a wide range of swing speeds, while still providing great feel.
There’s another ball I need to try this spring—if the snow ever melts.

I am wondering if this is any different than the Big Bertha Red. It is one thing for Callaway to develop the HX Hot lines in side the $20-30 range, but are they going to put that much time into the sub $20 balls?
I have a couple Big Bertha Reds that I got out of my big box o’unfinished dozens in the garage a few weeks back. Played with one a few holes and then went right back to the HX Hots and the Mojos on the cold days.
It is going to be a rough time working through those unfinished dozens. I am running out of the gems like the e5s, e6s, NXTs and Maxfli Fires—and am going to be left with the Maxfli ICE (which since my course closes when there is snow on the ground, I don’t know when I will ever be able to play with these crazy colored balls) - and various $10 cheapies. I will go out with every intention of burning through a sleeve, and then I will pick up a ProV1 out of a lake or a ditch and play with that ball for 2 rounds. I end up taking my assorted garage oddballs and knocking them into the range.

Just bought a dozen yesterday, I must preface my comments first by saying I have Callaway clubs and I am partial to the brand BUT I never preferred their golf balls…until now. Wow, I could not believe the hype (longer, softer feel) actually met the performance. Could’ve been a fluke but the ball travelled at least 15 yards further on average. Also, I could barely feel the ball off the putter. At first I thought the ball would be somewhat like the “crappy” Big Bertha, TX Hot, or Warbird but it seems Callaway got this one right. I’m hooked.
