Brookstone Hydro Neck Wrap Review

Hydro Neck Wrap

Hydro Neck Wrap

As the heatwave continues over much of the country, I thought that I’d offer a mini review of the Brookstone Hydro Neck Wrap, which I have been using to play golf in hot weather for nearly two years now.

The wrap is a flat tube of black cloth, which has been filled with some sort of gelatinous crystals. It doesn’t look like much when you see it dry. But when the wrap is soaked in cool water, it absorbs the liquid, expanding until it’s about the diameter of a hot dog.

When you go out into the heat, you hang the wrap around your neck like a loose tie. In the heat, the water evaporates from the wrap, helping to keep your body temperature down.

Does it work? Absolutely. It’s one of the simplest and best ways I know to keep cool I not only use it when golfing, but also when mowing the lawn or doing any other outdoor work in the heat of the sun.

It does dry out a bit about halfway through a (walking) round, but if it’s still damp, it revives quickly with water from one of the course coolers.
