Bridgestone TreoSoft
The Bridgestone E6 has been one of my favorite balls over the last couple of years, so I was intrigued to see that Bridgestone has a new ball out: the TreoSoft.
The TreoSoft is designed for players with moderate swing speeds. Bridgestone says that it has a “gradational” core that offers distance and prevents it from ballooning in flight. It’s also got the seamless 330 dimple design.
I haven’t been able to find a press release on the ball so the specifics are a little fuzzy. It doesn’t say that it’s a three piece ball, but the name certainly suggests that (treo = three). On the other hand, if it was a three piecer, you’d think that they would brag about it.

I pretty much stopped playing the e5 and e6. Not for any performance reasons, but just because I lost interest. I went back the HX Hots, I am still getting 2007 TaylorMade TP Reds from the discount bin at Golfsmith when they have them. And I am winning some, finding some and sometimes even buying a few Pro V1s for play when there is money on the line. (thay usually means the weekly $6, but I did win $175 in cash and certificates this weekend playing ProV1s).
But I got a couple sleeves of the TreoSoft last week, and have gone through a couple of them. I can’t say anything about durability, I didn’t see one tear up, but I didn’t play long enough to know. They were a fine ball from what I could tell- but I wasn’t playing that well (lost those first two within 9-holes, which I rarely do that lately). One thing of note, the logo/putt line on the ball bothers me. This is purely asthetic, but might bother me enough not to play regularly with the ball- Where it says TREOSOFT, the Treo is in one color, and the Soft in another color, and then the arrowheads at each end of the word, one has the point on line with the top of the letters and the other end has the point on line with the bottom of the letters. This makes the line for me crooked to my eye. It looks ok if you are just looking at it, but on the green it bothered me. Yeah- that’s dumb of me I know.
BTW- on my ongoing struggle with the HX Hot Bite - It is flat out the longest ball I play with, and it also plays the best on the greens. But the sacrifice is the durability. If it wasn’t for this ball tearing up within 18 holes of regular play, Callaway could easily charge $45 for this ball, and it would fit right in there with the ProV1s.

What makes these balls better than a Titeleist 90?

It is not a three piece ball. It’s a two piece with a “gradational” core.
I did a review of these a few days ago. Not too bad a golf ball.

I Love this ball! I went from the B player in my group to on top of the totum pole in just 4 starts with the ball. As of right now I am undefeated with this ball and back in the 70’s after being long removed. I beat my Uncle who has been playing golf almost as long as I have been alive, being I just started 5 years ago that is a big accomplishment. This is my new ball. And my group is sick about it!
