Bionik 207 Nano Mallet Putter Review
Grade: A
Teacher’s Comments: Well balanced, soft touch.
I generally favor a heavier, straight shaft putter, but I found a lot to like about the Bionik 207 Nano Mallet. It puts very smoothly and once I got used to the lighter weight, offered good distance control.
The wide mallet design has a matte white finish with a series of black alignment marks across the top. At first I found it a little busy, but once I learned to line it all up, I found it less annoying, then actually useful.
The bottom of the mallet has two weighted rods that are designed to do two things: create a higher center of gravity for impact with the ball’s equator, and to increase the moment of inertia. It seems to work. Putts go very straight with this one.
The putter’s face has a patterned milled aluminum insert that offers a nice feel off the ball and gets things rolling quite quickly. One thing I am a stickler for in a putter is that there is absolutely no perceived “hop” off the face, and this meets that standard very nicely.
Because of its relatively light weight, I would recommend this putter for people who have to contend with relatively fast greens.
