BIONIC TECHNOLOGIES Pro Model Glove

BIONIC TECHNOLOGIES Pro Model Glove

I’ve had a Bionic Glove in my “Up North” bag for a couple of years. I bought it after the heat gun accident in which I burned a large chunk of flesh off my left hand while changing shafts on a golf club (five years later, it still hurts—that’s how deep I cooked myself). I took a couple of weeks off from playing, and then got a Bionic glove and headed back to the course. Thanks to the glove’s pads, I was able to maintain control of the club with a lighter grip, and with the aid of a lot of motrin before a round, was able to play in relative comfort.

The glove was designed by an orthopedic surgeon, and has pads in strategic places that encourage a lighter grip. It’s perfect for the arthritic golfer.

Well, almost perfect. The original gloves had two faults. First, the padding cut down on “feel.” Using the Bionic Glove, you just don’t feel the short shots like you should. That’s not such an issue for me because I only use a glove on full shots with driver, fairway woods and irons.

A bigger issue for me was that they’re hot. And that’s why they stay “Up North” in Northern Michigan, where the climate is significantly cooler.

But Bionic seems to have addressed both of these issues with the new Pro Model Bionic Glove. The pro model has a thinner leather for more feel, a moisture absorbing mini terrycloth layer on the inside, and a lycra mesh flexion on both sides for breathability.

I’m going to get one the next time I drop in at GolfSmith..
