Are Your Clubs Fake?

May 17, 2005

Do you have name brand golf clubs? Are you sure they’re real?

According to an article in the International Herald Tribune, more than 31,000 fake clubs were seized in a single series of raids on Chinese warehouses last year. If that’s how many the shady Chinese government was forced to seize, think of how many are slipping out while they look the other way.

The issue is complicated by the fact that Chinese manufacturers are responsible for 60% of the legitimate clubs.

I think that the overall lesson here is that, if you find a deal that’s too good to be true, it probably is.
