Adams Men's CB1 Irons - (Steel) 4-GW

Adams Men’s CB1 Irons - (Steel) 4-GW

Starting with the Tight Lies woods, Adams Golf has built its reputation around its lines of easy-to-hit sticks. I frankly never thought of them as clubs that the pros would use. But that’s no knock. Most of us can’t play the clubs the pros use any way.

But in recent years, Adams has had Tour success with their hybrid clubs. Now they seem to be branching out with the Idea Pro Black CB1 Irons, a premium set with tour-styled forged carbon steel heads with a dramatic Ni-Cr plated black finish.

The CB1 Irons are forged from 8620 carbon steel—a material favored by many skilled players for the feel, performance and feedback. The clubs have a cavity back, but apparently not so much that it affects workability. A “constant offset” throughout the set, thin top line and beveled trailing edge also are designed to appeal to the better player.

Plus, they’re black. I like black clubs.

  • I demoed these in the store and they were great!!  The feel at impact was very smooth and detailed. Meaning, I could feel where I hit the ball and knew why the resulting flight occurred.  Still even on off center hits the physical feeling was very good!  I compared these with the Callaway Diablo Forged since I really planned on buying those but now I have a doubt.  The Diablos felt softer on impact but were not a controllable. The biggest convincing argument in favor of the CB1s was that they were very consistent.  CB1s were consistently between approx. 170 -180…the Diablos were more spread out at approx. 160-180.  I think this is important when planning shots.  Both clubs were forgiving.  My longest shot was with the Diablos, but long is not always better, I can imagine some shots flying over the green.  I am really looking at these CB1s…I am going to have to compare them to the Ping S57/56 and the Mizuno MP57.  One thing I noticed…these CB1 come with a flighted PX…the store demo has a 6.0 PX.
