A Lost Robin

I thought these guys were supposed to be a sign of spring.

Up until a year ago, I was with you; robins were a harbinger of Spring. Since then I have learned first hand that many, many male robins spend the Winter in Ann Arbor. They congregate in wooded areas shletered from the wind and where berry bushes provide them food. If one walks through some of the nature areas in Ann Arbor, it is not uncommon to see several dozen robins hangin out.

Supposedly it is to get first dibs on the prime nesting areas. Foolish males! If they want to get the chicks, work on their sense of humor.
