Sabre Tees

Sabre Tees-4 Pack

The humble tee has gone through a lot of tinkering lately. One of those that I’ve written about before is the Brush-T.

Now the Sabre Tee comes along.

The idea of this is that it positions the ball back away from the stem of the tee,  allowing you to hit the ball first before hitting the tee. The manufacturer claims this offers less resistance and greater distance. Its also got a tether cord so you don’t lose the things. (This is a good idea. A couple of years ago, I bought some newfangle plastic tees that I promptly lost when they popped into the air after I hit them.)

I guess that the tee is the last frontier of golf technology.

Tiger and Vijay Pull Away

In an article in Golf Observer, Keith Lowe breaks down this weeks’s possibilities with the World Golf Rankings. And it looks as though its going to be a two man battle: the difference between second and third is as large as its been in almost two years.

Unfortunately for Vijay, even another win this week won’t move him ahead of Woods.

Trunk Mate Golf Organizer

Trunk Mate Organizer

When I was strictly a pub links player, I used to tote all of my golf gear around in the back of my car. Balls would rattle around ... ball mark repair tools would get lost ...

I wish that I’d had this trunk mate organizer.

R&A Admits Women To Open Championship

The Royal And Ancient has opened the door for women to compete in the Open Championship.

The event, which currently is open only to men with a scratch handicap, apparently would be open in the future to women with a “plus” handicap. The tougher requirements would be due to the women playing from shorter tees. In the Open, they would play from the regular tees.

Weirdly, the R&A seems open to the possibility of Michelle Wie playing this year. The 15-year-old phenom is playing in the John Deere just before the open, and if she finished as the leading non-exempt player, she would qualify for the Open Championship.

Its not going to happen. But its fun to think about.

Visiball Glasses Review

Grade: B- Teacher’s Comments: It can help, but you still have to know where your ball went. Every golfer has had the experience of watching a ball roll just off the fairway and then—upon arriving at the location—finding that it is nowhere in sight. Nestled amongst…

Bargain On Feinstein’s “Open”

I just saw a huge stack of copies of John Feinstein’s excellent book Open : Inside the Ropes at Bethpage Black at my local Dollar Tree. It’s a good book at full price; for a dollar, it’s a steal. The Dollar Tree also had a pack…
