The golfer so big he needs a category all to himself. Every post in this section is about Eldrick "Tiger" Woods.
Tiger Needs A New Look?
Golf Digest apparently has an ipad app that—like the Wooly Willy magnetic toy—lets you add new hair and whiskers to the Striped One.
Maybe they’re right, and what he needs to reestablish his dominance is a new look. I’m thinking a Richard Roundtree look would work best.
Here’s a gallery of some creations:

Tiger In Danger Of Missing Frys.Com Cut
Yesterday, I wrote that I expected Tiger to make the cut—I was even thinking easily—if only because of the relative paucity of talent at the Frys.Com Open. I set the bar low, and Tiger failed to clear it. He was beaten by his amateur partner by four strokes.
I still expect him to play on the weekend, but the sight of him losing balls, driving wildly and missing critical putts can’t be encouraging to Fred Couples. I’ve written that I thought Fred made a mistake in giving Tiger a Captain’s Pick, and I stick to my belief. Its true that he was playing in the rain—but then so was his partner Patrick Cantlay, who shot -2.
Tiger should withdraw from the President’s Cup.
UPDATE: I just read this: for the YEAR, Tiger is just 7 under.

Tiger Returns To The Tour
Tiger will tee it up this afternoon at around 3:10 EST. He will be in a group with Louis Oosthuizen and amateur Patrick Cantlay. You can see it on The Golf Channel Starting at 4 pm EST.
Any predictions?

Tiger Woods Is Out Of The Top 50
For the first time in 15 years, Tiger is out of golf’s top 50. His last victory was the 2009 Australian Masters.
I am not a fan of the World Golf Rankings—there’s too much emphasis on past performance for my tastes—but it is still significant. I wonder at what point the golf world simply stops caring about Tiger.
(But then, I’m guilty of media hype by virtue of writing this, aren’t I).

Petterson Carries Woods
“She played great,” Tiger Woods said about Suzanne Pettersen. “She definitely carried me.”
The duo of Woods and Petterson finished third in the Begay Challenge, a four team charity event. Hunter Mahan and Christie Kerr walked away with their second consecutive win.
In Tiger’s favor, it was very nice of him to show up for his pal Notah’s charity event. His foundation benefits Native American education and health—two areas in which they are sorely in need of aid.

Has Tiger Lost His Tempo?
It is more than a bit self-serving—John Novosel sells a book called Tour Tempo: Golf’s Last Secret Finally Revealed—but his article in Golf suggests that Tiger’s problem is that he’s lost his tempo. Novosel says that virtually every top flite golfer maintains a 3-1 tempo of backswing to forward swing. Tiger, Novosel says, once had the best tempo in golf, but now is among the worst.
I think Novosel is on to something. One thing I’ve noticed about Tiger’s swing lately is just how awkward it looks. That’s probably the tempo I’m seeing. (I’m quite musical, and my parents are both music teachers, so I know I have a more innate sense of tempo than many). Of course, as Tiger gets more comfortable with whatever it is Sean Foley is trying to get him to do, he should be able to return to a better tempo.

Woods Might Need Sponsor’s Exemption To Own Event
Tiger apparently is in danger of falling out of the top 50 position needed to qualify for the Chevron Challenge. If he does so, he’ll need a sponsor’s exemption to play in his own Chevron World Challenge.
Two years ago, who could have imagined this?
