Ferguson: Tiger Takes The Suspense Out of Everything
AP Golf writer Doug Ferguson—one of my favorites—says that the season is over, and Tiger is play of the year.

PGA Tour Sells TPC Sites
The PGA Tour has sold the TPC Michigan, in Dearborn, TPC Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Fla. and TPC Piper Glen in Charlotte, N.C. They apparently plan to sell the TPC Prestancia later this year.
All of the courses were sold to Heritage Golf Group, of San Diego.
Not sure what this means. Is the Tour retrenching?.

Adidas Golf Shirts
ADIDAS ClimaCool Motion Colorblock Polo
Adidas recently stole a march on Nike and became the official supplier of the University of Michigan athletic teams. The deal is said to be worth $7.5 million annually—$3.5 million more than Michigan received from Nike. In addition, Adidas has guaranteed that Michigan will retain the largest contract the company offers—even if they have to increase it to keep it that way.
It may just be an increased awareness on my part, but it seems as though area golf shops are carrying more Adidas clothing these days.

Woods Slams Opponents
In an post-PGA interview, Tiger called out his opponents for their lack of physical fitness:
Tiger Woods said the hours he dedicates to fitness training had paid off as he won his 13th major at the USPGA at Oklahoma’s sweltering Southern Hills.
“Other guys have gotten tired. You see their shoulders slumping and dragging. I feel fine,” the 31-year-old said.
“You should always train hard and bust your butt. Not everyone considers golf a sport and they don’t treat it as such. You pay the price.”
That’s a pretty strong statement from Tiger, who is renowned for talking without actually saying anything during interviews. What he’s doing is calling his opponents fat and out of shape.
It might be true, but it’s a surprising statement coming from Tiger.

Current Best Players Not To Win A Major
Now that we know who has won this year’s Majors, it’s time to wonder about those who haven’t won. The Times Online has a list of the top ten, with commentary. Their picks, from ten to one: K.J. Choi, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, Robert Allenby, Stuart Appleby, Chris DiMarco, Luke Donald, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia and Colin Montgomerie.
Colin won’t get off that list. And—as much as I like him—I think its unlikely that Chris DiMarco will either.
A more interesting question might be to try to predict the next first-time winner. For that list, I’d have—in no particular order—Allenby, Appleby, Choi, Scott, Donald, Charles Howell, Trevor Immelman, Hunter Mahan, Ken Duke and Anthony Kim. I really believe that a couple of these under 30 guys are poised for a breakthrough.
I can see Howell winning at Augusta, in his hometown. I honestly don’t think that Garcia will ever win—unless its by accident. He’s a head case.

Big Bertha Golf Balls 2007
I found one of these on the course the other day and hadn’t realized until that moment that the new Big Berthas have the same hex dimple design as the HX series. A little further research also reveals that Callaway has gotten rid of the “Red” and “Blue” distinctions. The Big Bertha now comes in just one flavor: a two piece ball billed as “ultra low compression.”

Tiger Wins. Ho Hum.
Els and Austin teased us for a while, but the end result was exactly as expected. Tiger won the PGA and the TV commentators had a Woodsgasm.
I hate to be petty, but I’m getting tired of Tiger Woods.
