Golf Gym
I saw golf fitness and yoga guru Catharine Roberts demonstrating the Golf Gym the other day on The Golf Channel’s coverage of the PGA Merchandise show. It seems like a good idea. The rubber surgical tubing offers strength building through resistance as you imitate the golf swing.
Now, in deference to the guys over at The Sand Trap, I’ll admit right off the bat that you could build this for far less than what they’re selling it for. But then you wouldn’t get the cool dvd, carrying case and instruction guide.

New Cleveland Launcher Irons
Cleveland Golf has a gorgeous new set of Launcher Irons. With the splash that the Launcher Driver is making on the Tour, I expect to see these Irons in more than a few bags at the club this summer.
Cleveland says that the irons have the highest moment of intertia (resistance to twisting) they’ve ever designed. That, combined with a lower center of gravity and additional offset should make it very forgiving indeed.

The Champions Tour And Golf Carts
Golf is a walking game.
That’s why I was glad to see that the Champions (Senior) Tour has decided to abandon its policy of allowing players to use electric carts and instead force them to walk.
But several players on the Champions Tour apparently feel that the Tour has gone too far and are preparing to sue for the right to ride. The PGA Tour has been down this road before—in the Casey Martin case, where the Court ruled that Martin should be allowed to ride.
The Champions Tour President, Rick Geoge, says it’s about the image of the Tour. Gary Player, Tom Watson and Hale Irwin back his position. But to me, it’s a much bigger issue than image. It’s a question about the very nature of the game itself. Is golf simply a ball hitting exhibition, or is it an athletic event, where endurance and strength are a part of the game?
High Tech At The PGA Show
As you know, I love gadgets. I’ve got a neat new cellphone, a palm pilot, a digital minicam, a couple of laptops, and all kinds of other goodies. And I love golf. So I REALLY love golf gadgets.
Apparently the PGA Show was full of high tech golf gadgets. There was a “bionic” glove, a ball that emits a radio signal so you can find it, greens reading glasses, and more. Article here.
Patriots Headcover
Ok. It’s Superbowl week and I have yet to pay homage to that Great American Tradition. Because I’m a Michigan man, I’m going to take the Patriots and former University of Michigan Quarterback Tom Brady. So for those of you who are rooting for the Patriots, you can get this good Patriots headcover from Austad’s Golf.
