Rainy Day Cheer
It’s Monday. It’s rainy. And it’s cold. So here’s a morale booster from our league’s round this past Friday.
Golf One Liner Of The Century
The one-liners were flying at the Players Championship this past weekend. Sergio Garcia, however, may have won not only the Players, but also the award for the best quote:
“First of all,” Garcia said, “I want to thank Tiger for not being here. That always makes things a little bit easier.”
Runner Up, Paul Goydos:
Q. Two things; one on golf, one on non-golf. Did this all start at the end of 2006? In other words, did your game turn around when you won down in Florida, where all of a sudden you started playing well? And what school did you actually teach at?
PAUL GOYDOS: I think I’m a better player than I’ve ever been. That said, so is everybody else who plays out here (laughter), which is the problem.
Weather Underground’s Tournament Golf Weather Tracker
The Weather Underground site has a new page that offers in-depth, hourly forecasts for PGA Tour events. You can click through on each day for more detail - as well as hourly temperature forecasts and animated radar, we have wind speed and % chance of rain - and as you’ll see there’s a chance the golfers may face some rain and even thunderstorms over the final two rounds. You can also see all of the personal weather stations near each golf course for the most
accurate
UPro Golf GPS
uPro Golf GPS:
This has to be the slickest golf GPS I’ve seen. Using aerial photography and satellite imagery, on high resolution color screen, it shows you the actual hole in addition to distances. The screen also adjusts its position to show you the proper view based on your current location.
There’s no membership with this GPS. Instead, you pay per course—a good deal if you have just a few that you play on a regular basis.
They have them at Golfsmith
Frugal Fairways Site
I recently discovered the Frugal Fairways site, which relies on a community of users to list golf course discounts in their area.
Its a good idea.
