2 out of 5 stars Not Quite A 22 Mile Range   September 30, 2008
1 out of 2 found this review helpful

I used the radios on high power channels last week on a cruise ship and there was so much static that I sounded like the Verizon guy, can you here me know? I know the packaging states that 22 miles is under the best conditions, I would have hoped they would work well for 1000 feet. I gave them 2 stars only because of the battery life lasted for a whole week (with minimal use) without having to recharge.

3 out of 5 stars not 20 miles or even close   September 29, 2008

I thought even in the mountains,I would get some distance using these. I live in a valley and all of the area around me is higher so I figured I would get 5-10 miles at least. I cannot get a signal past 200 yards so although the signal is good around the house, these are worthless for any distance past 200 yards

If you are looking for very close communication these are fine but for anything over that distance KEEP LOOKING THESE ARE NOT FOR YOU

4 out of 5 stars Radio Fun   September 21, 2008
Good radio for recreational use. We took them camping and they worked on all the trails in the park. Clear conversation for up to two miles. We were in granite rocky areas with no interference. Compatible with our other two ways as well.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the Price   September 16, 2008

First of all the range in normal city conditions is no more than a single mile. I havent tried it in the desert but in the city its 1 or 2 miles tops.
That is normal with ALL GMRS radios so get over it.

Very good features for the price but would of have loved VOX. Feels very solid.

2 out of 5 stars What a waste!   September 6, 2008

These units have lasted a whopping 7 months. Initially, they were great...held a charge; great reception; easy to handle. Now, they have to be recharged daily even though we have them on standby for only 1 hour daily. They have not been dropped or abused. They stink. I rated them two stars for the ease of use and handling ONLY.
