1 out of 5 stars don't buy this one   November 16, 2008
I bought this razor because Consumer Reports rated it a best buy. However, after using it for only 4 months, I will buy another razor and not a Remington. This razor misses a lot of whiskers and when they grow out just a bit, it will no longer cut them. It also does not trim the side burns very well.

By the way, I am also cancelling my subscription to Consumer Reports based on this product rating.

3 out of 5 stars Remington shaver   November 16, 2008
I had excellent service and the seller did a fantastic job.
The shaver is rated as #1 on Consumers Report so I tried it, even though I've always used Norelco.
Did a fair job but left many visual uncut beard hairs.
I could not get a real close shave.
Returned it with no problems!
Thanks!

2 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.   November 14, 2008
This is a basic shaver. If price is your criteria, then its probably a decent buy. It's noisy, and it has only two cutting heads. But it will give you a decent shave, eventually. It doesn't appear to be made to last a long time. Personally, I would recommend spending a few dollars more and get a Norelco rotary shaver.

1 out of 5 stars A poor, inconsistent shaver   November 14, 2008
This is a poor, inconsistent shaver. I spend more time shaving with this than a disposable razor and still end up with patches of unshaven hair, especially under my chin. I could go over these patches a dozen times in different angles and levels of pressure, and still not get all of the hair. The length of my hair doesn't seem to matter. If it has been 2 days or 5 days since my last shave, this thing is still just as bad at cutting it. The extendible trimmer only helps a little bit; not worth discussing.

There is mention of waiting 3 weeks without using a different shaving method to get the best shave, though it never actually explains what this means. I believe it just means it will _feel_ better after 3 weeks, but I don't care... it feels fine now; it just can't cut my hair. Even if it were the case that it would shave better after these 3 weeks, what am I supposed to do until then, walk around with a half-shaven beard?

This is my first electric razor. I heard they weren't as close of a shave as disposable razors, but I thought that would be a fair trade for the obscene cost of disposable razors. I've used this product a total of 3 separate times, and am disappointed. If this, a Consumer Reports top pick, is any indication of how electric razors typically perform, then my journey with them is done. I'm going to test the waters of double-edge safety razors instead...

5 out of 5 stars Remington MS2-390 Shaver   November 14, 2008
I purchased the razor because of consumer reports and the reviews of the shaver on amazon. The razor is great! I shaved with my current Panasonic razor and then with the Remington. The Remington shaved what the Panasonic missed for an even closer shave. I liked the Panasonic, the Remington a much better shaver. The Remington is a little louder but I am very happy with the purchase. What makes this even better is that amazon had the best price I found. I now check amazon for price and reviews before purchasing anything, even auto parts. The last part I purchased through amazon for my truck was half the price the auto stores wanted for the exact same part from the exact manufacturer.
