great under water headphones September 24, 2008 I dont know what some of these people are talking about. The first time I used these headphones they worked great. Yeah, I had to make a couple of adjustments at the end of the lane, but thats okay. All in all, I am thrilled that I can now swim and listen to music...something I was not able to do before and made myself stay in the water just to get it done, but now ITS FUN!
It is important to note that these headphones are supposed be fitted below your neck and not around the base of your head, so there is plenty of movement allowed this way, or just remove the fixed part of them and use them as earbuds and they work, too...but can fall out.
The Best Waterproof Headphones on the Market September 16, 2008 The H3 Waterproof Headphones have the best sound quality that you will find that can still handle the elements. Keep in mind that when any set of speakers are waterproofed, the sound won't be quite the same, but these were certainly a pleasant surprise. These headphones also sport some nice features, such as being able to use them a mere earbuds without having the piece around the neck. The optional earbud covers for underwater use also make them very versatile. I would highly recommend these to any friend, and after having some cheap pairs in the past, I can say that these are definitely worth the price.
The sound quality SUCKS- tinny; don't buy!!! August 26, 2008 The sound quality is very tinny, just horrible; a huge disappointment after 10 seconds of use. What is the point of getting an expensive waterproof case, if the sound quality is so lousy? Don't buy these! Laird Hamilton, how can you let them use your photo to sell this junk? Sorry to say that my opinion of Laird just plummeted.
Junk August 22, 2008 I purchased these for lap swimming which I do 3 times a week. These headphones are absolute junk, leaking within the first lap or two. No amount of adjusting will make them seal properly and work. Don't waste your money, you will be disappointed. I have bought the new H2o Surge headphones and they do show some promise, I'm still working with selecting the right size earpiece out of the 5 included but I can at least get in one half a workout before resealing them.
Sound quality insupportable for anything except water-sports August 10, 2008 We bought these headphones along with the waterproof iPod case by the same maker, after my wife dropped her iPod & headphones in the hot tub (oops!). The case is great, but the headphone sound quality is insupportable for any use except actual water-sports -- or maybe if you only listen to speech (audiobooks or podcasts). For the hot tub or running in light rain, we'll stick to an inexpensive pair of earbuds. Sound quality is so much better that it's worth it, even if they eventually die from the moisture. *However*, if you want to listen while you swim or surf, everything I've read suggests these are the headphones to get. Our activities just don't require them...
