4 out of 5 stars Good Item - Larger Straps now available   July 14, 2008
I ordered this item around 5 months ago just as my son was turing 2. I read some of the concerns from others but ordered anyway becuase the item is so unique. Didn't have a problem with the item fitting my mountain bike (giant). Installation from fairly easy, I wouldn't say it's simple, but the directions seemed fine to me. I didn't have any issues with the turning radius of the bike after installation as some have indicated, and I'm only 5'8 so I have a smaller bike to begin with. I have noticed that after 4 months I can no longer strap the bottm straps around my son's legs, and the overall strapping mechanism is fairly clumsy to begin with becuase the straps don't come completely apart and you have to kind of put the kid down through the middle of them while you are trying to hold your bike up. I'm not able to sit on the seat while the bike isn't moving becuase his seat is too close to mine until I'm actually sitting on it. I need of a rolling start and then I just kick my leg over the tap and jump on the seat at the same time. Fine for me, but not for everybody. I just went to the weeride website and called the manufacturer and they apparently now have larger replacement straps that they will send out. Currently it is at no charge. I'm not sure if it also addresses the fact that the current ones don't completely separate because of the fixed chest strap that is permanent, but they are at least larger and should allow you child to use the seat until the age/weight it is actually intended.

1 out of 5 stars Does not fit "virtually any" bike, as claimed.   July 11, 2008

I was very disappointed to find that this seat does not fit on either my wife's or my bicycle. Both are fairly standard off-the-bike-store-rack models. The company's misleading advertising states it fits virtually any bike. What it should say is that you must have at least 3/4"-1" of head tube extending above the top tube so that the front mounting clamp will fit without interfering with the headset bearings (steering mechanism.) My trek mountain bike has essentially no such space. My wife's Giant city/trail bike had a little more space due to the sloping "ladies" top tube, but the clamp still did not fit. Had I known this, I would not have wasted the shipping fees, and gotten a seat that fits.

1 out of 5 stars I would not recommnt this!   June 27, 2008

May not fit every bike! It didn't fit ours! I didn't feel safe puting our daughter on the seat - it didn't offer much support for her. Plastic is very flexable!!! I returned it immediately!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great fun for baby   June 26, 2008

This seat is awesome. As some reviewers have mentioned, you do have to bow your legs just slightly to ride with this seat, but unless you have your seat positioned completely incorrectly for proper riding, this is only a slight bowing and I would not consider it a flaw. The straps are a little big for my small 14-month-old daughter, but this only means that she will be able to enjoy it for a long time. It is much, much, MUCH safer than the back-mounted seats that throw your balance off, and my daughter can enjoy the wind in her face and fun sights. I think that this seat is wonderfly designed, but there is one IMPORTANT thing to consider: Many bikes now are not designed in a way that is compatible with this front mounting bracket. I bought a bike that I really liked, only to find that this is seat would not fit because the bar is welded too close to the steering column. I returned the bike (because the child seat was more important) and had to take the bracket with me to several merchants to find a bike that it would fit on. This seat will not work for all bikes styles or brands.

5 out of 5 stars Father's delight!   June 20, 2008
Purchased this carrier as a "Father's Day" gift for our son who has an outdoor-loving 2.5 year old. What a joy to watch Dad & Son tour our neighborhood together, with Dad's arms alongside Son, the two able to chat intimately as they ride around, ..... so safe, so secure, so very wonderful to deepen the special bond between Dad and Son.
