Flimsy and unsafe September 3, 2008 This seat is flimsy thin plastic w/ holes in sides to allow child hands to hang out, the frame the seat mounts to is flimsy plastic that allows to much movement of assembly. My 2 yr old was scared the whole time and we never went on a ride with it. That was just sitting in the driveway. She has riden in other brands and enjoyed it. You may think the flexibilty of the plastic is fine but eventually the plastic will fatige and crack. The wobblyness allows for childs center of gravity to keep changing from side to side and contributes to the bike being unstable. I whole heartedly agree with others who have decided not to use this brand. Do your child and yourself a favor and spend the money on a better built seat.
Good seat July 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We think this seat is just fine and we're having a great time with it. It's solid, sturdy, safe, and my daughter loves riding in it. I don't think it's flimsy at all and, if installed properly, should not be wobbly or loose.
This is our second child seat - we bought a much more expensive Co-Pilot Taxi at a bike shop when my son was small but sold it when we moved cross country. Now we have a little girl and I think this less expensive Bell is just as good.
The only reason I don't give it full stars is that they could have made the installation a little easier. Some of the bolts were awkward to get on, but my husband is good at that kind of stuff, so there was only a little cussing involved.
Some reviewers are saying that the seat makes the bike wobble from side to side and throws their balance off. EVERY child seat is going to do that. You have to get used to it and learn to compensate for the weight on the bike being redistributed.
We think it's a great seat for a great price.

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier we purchased this child seat for my bicycle so I could take my daughter out and ride. we had a slight difficulty as the seat did not fit the bike. My husband managed to do some adjustments with parts we had around the garage. It now fits. A friend who also bought the same seat had the same problem and ended up bending the support for the seat to make it work. The harness system is not designed well and my 22 month old daughter can wiggle out of it no matter how tight I make it. just poor design. Again I managed to use a harness system from an old stroller and we use the seat now. Overall we love Bells products and hope to continue to buy them.

My grandson is not quiet one but he holds on and laughs the entire time he is riding behind his mother. He makes all sorts of "baby" sounds as he bounces along. Great bike seat for little ones.
