4 out of 5 stars Pretty nice, compact + portable   August 13, 2008
I got this as a gift, and have to say it is really nice. It dosen't take up much space, and the two shelves can be removed (although it takes some muscle) which is great for apt. decks w/o a lot of room. If I remember corrctly it comes with 2 grills, and you can buy a griddle which I also got (it is nice for sauteing veggies, or doing even pancakes - and a breeze to clean ).
The only problem I have had is with cleaning the 2 grills. When I have scrubbed it with a OXO plastic scrubber the black coating on the grill has slowly come off, I don't know if this is okay to still use (Does any one else have this problem?), but it hasn't started rusting. But I would still recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars Camping Godsend!   June 24, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

I've owned one of these for three years, using it about a dozen times each year on camping trips. Of all the gear I bring, this is one of my most beloved pieces.

Setup at the campsite takes two to three minutes MAX (minus balancing!) and cleanup is, for the most part, a snap. A water-filled pan underneath each of the burners catches fat, etc. from cooking and is easy to clean up by simple draining and wipe-down with a paper towel or two until you can get home and treat it properly with some Dawn.

The legs are definitely sturdy enough to support the weight of the grill and several pounds of meat. The side shelves can support several pounds more; while small, they connect via metal rods to the legs of the stand, and you're almost more likely to tilt the grill than snap a shelf.

Complaints?
-The hooks on the front of the grill are too fat to hook your tools.
-Balancing the thing, which is necessary considering the fat collects in a water dish, is sometimes difficult even though the "feet" adjust to about half an inch. You'll probably have to jam a couple of dead wood sticks under some of the feet to achieve a decent balance for this.
-Cleaning the grills thoroughly is a bit difficult too since along the "slits" there are raised sections, which makes a groove into which burned material can settle. Get some cheap plastic spoons to waste on scraping it off, unless your thumbnails are worth sacrificing.
-Also the slits from the grill, through which the fat drains, will gather burned cooking material which is difficult to dislodge. Since your food never touches that part, though, you may be okay with that. Personally, after scrubbing it manually with a brush and some Dawn, I stick it in the dishwasher. The drip pan might just fit in yours without removing the top rack.

In the end and despite my MINOR complaints, this thing is totally worth it; considering the options for grill replacements, its versatility alone makes it a great single solution for cooking at the campsite.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome   June 23, 2008
The Coleman Grill is simply awesome! I baptised it on a 9 person camping trip recently. I grilled 36 links, 24 hamburgers, breakfast twice, someone brewed coffee on it, and several burgers/links were reheated, all on 1 small propane tank. The grill was so easy to use & clean, that the fullsize gas grill we brought was reduced to a storage table. I can't wait to use it again!
I'm now planning on getting the travel bag for it, to keep it in mint condition and make it even easier to transport

3 out of 5 stars Aluminum grill is toxic   June 23, 2008

Although I am enjoying the convenience of this handy stove/grill, one disappointment is that the aluminum grill plate is terrible quality. After using it for a couple of months, I used the grill on a low heat for a slow roast and the grill turned powder blue. This is now toxic metal/chemical powders on my food! I don't understand why Coleman would make a grill plate that doesn't let you use traditional BBQ tools (metal) and second, makes the coating so flimsy it is basically putting toxins on your food.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome grill for RVing and Nascar!   May 9, 2008

I saw one of these at a Nascar race. The guy camped beside me had one. He cooked every meal for he and 3 other people on the grill! Since I've bought mine I have cooked almost every day on it. Steaks, chicken, burgers, chops, corn, eggs, baked beans, bacon, pancakes. Tomorrow I'm going to try soft shell crab. It is so easy to use, cooks absolutely fabulous and is so easy to clean... At least one of my friends that has eaten with me over the past month is getting one for her new house. I just saw where Camping World has them for $60.00 off. What a deal. I also got the cooking grate and travel case. I plan to get a full size griddle and another grill section soon. Frugal on gas, too. I only used one of the small bottles of LP for 5 meals at the races last week!
