4 out of 5 stars Why the limited color selection?   January 29, 2003

I love LeCreuset cookware but have tired of my flame set and have been adding Jade to my collection this past year. I feel that not enough pieces are available in the Jade color, for instance the 4 1/2 quart pan would be perfect for me and my husband. I no longer use the large sizes in such things as many people our age have found. I certainly would have purchased more Jade pans if they were available in the appropriate sizes.
My flame pans have lasted for over 35 years.

5 out of 5 stars Nice multi-purpose pot....   January 17, 2003

I've used my pot to make soup (chicken rice) and stuffed cabbage rolls so far. It's most useful for times you don't want or need lots of direct contact with heat, such as provided by their dutch oven pots.

Like another poster, I also have the smaller version of the pot and found it hard to make soup in it because of its relatively small size, though I use it often for stove-to-oven casseroles. If you're looking for a pot specifically to make soup in, this 4 1/2 qt pot is the smallest one you should consider.

5 out of 5 stars Waiting a LONG time   December 21, 2002

I recieved the Flame Soup Pot with cover as a gift but have been after my grandmothers lasagne pan for years. She gave it to my father who in turn will give it to me. I had my choice of pieces and I chose the soup Pot for its small size and versatility. I have not yet made soup in it but have done yams, baked mac and cheese, and plan on using it for much more. What I love is that unlike traditional cast iron you can put this in the dishwasher. No more worrying about someone in the household not properly washing a much loved piece of cookware. I can't wait to get more pieces and then cant wait for the day I can pass these off to my children.

This pot will make anything you make taste better because it cooks evenly. Using it makes me feel like a real chef because it is what the real chefs use!!!
