This Just Works. It is a simple idea implemented well. Highly recommended, especially for those of you who want to use your GPS in more than one vehicle.

 Better Than Suction Cup Mount September 26, 2007
Instant install. Never slips and very stable. The downside is that it is heavy and bulky. Instead of a tell-tale suction cup ring on your windshield, you now must figure out where to store this rather large, heavy item out of sight.
Works surprisingly well September 24, 2007
I had my doubts about this mount, especially since the dash on my Camry isn't level or flat, but it works surprisingly well with my Nuvi 350. The bottom of the mount has a lot of friction and has no trouble staying in one place even during sharp turns. The mount weighs a few pounds so it doesn't slide or tip. Easier to reposition than the suction mount that came with my Nuvi.
Only negative aspects I've found are that it's a little ugly and that it doesn't fold up as much as I'd like for stowing it away. Also, as others have noted, for the Nuvi at least, you'll need to combine this mount with the socket part of the original Nuvi mount to have a complete mount.

The friction mount solves the problem of how to have my Nuvi 660 handy since in CA it can't go on the windshield. Sets up easily ...
