Great for real short people October 23, 2008 There's a reason the entire leg of the model is not shown on the ads. In order to use this on the average door ,you legs must be constantly bent at a 45 degree angle to keep them off the ground .
You have got to be kidding me October 19, 2008 Got this thing out of the box, tried to put it together. I could not figure out why there seemed to be two inches of play in the four main screws that hold the handles / door support to the main bar. From reading on here, it looks like they are basically too long! THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE CORRECT ASSEMBLY HARDWARE. China is a big place, you'd think Everlast could find a manufacturer that could figure those things out. Or maybe there was some kind of Spinal Tap thing going on with the screw lengths. Whatever, save your money, anything else on the market has got to be better than this.
False advertising: Multi Function is a lie October 18, 2008 Just got this item. did a pull up or 2 to see if it holds me...so far so good. I don't need a tool to do push ups. Now to test the 2nd reason I bought this thing: sit ups. I wanted something that holds my feet down while I do sit ups (as advertised in the picture with the dorky haired dude right?) This is the point you realize you've been had. If anyone knows how to make this work (the sit -up part), I'm golden with this product, if not, lying to a customer PISSES ME OFF!
(Please comment if you know how to make this bar hold your feet down whilst doing sit ups
The bolts are fine, use a wrench! October 13, 2008 Everyone talks about the bar coming with the wrong bolts because if you try to assemble the bar with your fingers the nuts don't tighten all the way. There's a lining of blue plastic inside the nuts that help them stay in place when tightened with a wrench, but yes they will stop you if you try to put them on with your fingers. Admittedly, the instructions should have either made this clearer or come with a wrench tool.
Once assembled, the thing works great! Everyone else who complains about the "substandard" nature of the product seems not to understand how all of these door-frame chin-up bars work. This one is arguably as good as the P90X bar (depending on your grip style) for about 1/3rd of the cost, and it is way better than the other door-frame bars that cost $10-20 more.
As long as you own a wrench and a standard door-frame, I can see no reason to buy any other chin-up bar.
Awful product October 11, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Took way too long to assemble, screws aren't the right size. Once I finally got it together, it didn't work on my door frame. Apparently made for door that are very deep, the top part couldn't actually grip onto anything and I fell on my butt.
Really, really substandard product.
