4 out of 5 stars whats all the fuss?   May 19, 2007

I have had the new msntv2 since it came out, yes it was frustrating a little at first and I hated losing the pip and the scrapbook, but I dont understand people saying the things it wont do. I write email everyday on it, I cut copy paste without a mouse, perhaps some of these people just need a little more patience, give up my msntv2 NO WAAAAY. The main reason I like it is that I do not speak "computereeze" and so I dont have anything to compare it to, I did start out in the 80's with a Commodore 64 but thats another story. I started on webtv in '98 with the original classic and have progressed from there to the msntv2, of which I am on my 2nd one in 4 years but the nice thing is whenever I do have to change units, I have everything saved and appearing on the new unit and I can buy these new units at discounted prices thru amazon or ebay. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY MSNTV2.

5 out of 5 stars superior internet experience   May 16, 2007

i have had a webtv classic in my life for years and also a PC , so i have been on every level of the internet food chain from dial up to cable broadband. This item is not nearly as bad as people (usually disgruntled webtv old school diehards) say,
The main quality of this is that is is now in highspeed, dial up webtv was just no good anymore and the way the net is you need broadband. This msn tv 2 also needs no firewall (which is what slows down and protects pc's) so i find that it is faster on the net than a 2005 era loaded computer , computers need way to much pampering and security to use the net, this thing is basically just plug and play.
it does have some small shortcomings to nitpick about , but overall the speed and power and price point make this an excellent buy. no regrets at all in buying this to replace a webtv classic at all.

You wudda thunk after all this time- they'd get it right. NO SIR!Unless you can get an old unit (a WEBTV PLUS) - stay away from this and save yourself a lot of aggravation.

FOUR WORDS "DO NOT BUY IT" AFTER YEARS OF WORKING ON MACS AND PC AND OWNING 2 OTHER WEBTVs I CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS THING HAS MORE FLAWS THAN I CARE TO COUNT AND IT IS GOING BACK OR THROUGH A WINDOW AFTER THREE DAYS.

1 out of 5 stars A Waste of Money   March 24, 2007

MSN TV 2 is huge disappointment to me. You can't write emails or anything else, not only because it skips letters, but because it mistakes a letter keystroke as a command to go to the homepage or search or something else. It's slow, it won't load certain pages, it cuts off for no reason, it won't play videos on YouTube unless you're content to watch 2 seconds pause for it to reload and then 2 more seconds, etc, etc.

I've used webtv, now called msntv, since 1997, and I admit it's always been much more limited than a computer, but it's always met my basic needs. However, MSNTV 2 simply does not work right. They didn't test it enough before releasing it.

If you want MSNTV, then buy a classic unit. It's limited, but at least you can send email, shop on sites like this one, and surf the net (albeit not all sites).
