4 out of 5 stars I like it..   October 17, 2008
I like the Klean Kanteen, but it does have its downsides. I don't know if it's just me, but it often has a metallic smell. I don't really like the smell of it too much so I pour it into a cup...but still, the metallic smell kinda sucks. Other than that, it's a great water bottle.

5 out of 5 stars Best water bottle I've owned   October 15, 2008
I got the 27oz bottle along with the steel cap. I can honestly say it's been the best bottle I've owned! The all-stainless steel construction ensures that it doesn't retain any dish soap residue or smell after a good washing. The water is not flavored at all by the bottle.

I own and have used both the poly and steel loop caps, and I think the steel cap is far superior. The best thing about the steel cap is that it's actually a bit wider than the poly cap and it covers the lip of the bottle opening where you drink from. The poly cap just covers the hole and leaves that part exposed, which is a problem if you ever handle the top part of the bottle with dirty hands. The difference between how the two caps cover the opening is kind of like a bottle cap vs. a wine cork.
Also, after I washed the poly cap for the first time before using it, it immediately retained the dishsoap smell, which meant that not all of it could be washed off before use.

I highly recommend getting the 20oz neoprene tote (it stretches to fit the 27oz bottle perfectly) by Built along with this bottle. Because it's 100% stainless, the bottle is both prone to dings and takes on the temperature of whatever you've put inside it. The tote protects the bottle and lets you keep cold water inside for long periods of time.

5 out of 5 stars You need this!   October 15, 2008
You're know you're not drinking bottled water for the water, but for the convenience, right? So get a metal water bottle and stop using throw-aways!! they are lightweight, easy to clean, have no metallic taste and are environmentally responsible, which is what you REALLY want to be, right? Yeah. I thought so.

5 out of 5 stars Better than Sigg   October 14, 2008
We own both the Klean Kanteen and Sigg bottles. Both are vastly superior to the plastic water bottles for safety and taste. Contrary to another reviewer, I prefer the Klean Kanteen to the Sigg because it's:

(1) MUCH easier to clean. It is dishwasher safe, the Sigg is not. Because the mouth of the Sigg is very small, it is difficult to clean thoroughly.

(2) MUCH easier to fill with ice cubes. I can fill my Klean Kanteen with ice cubes straight from the ice machine. With the Sigg, I have to manually put each ice cube into the bottle. This is a big pain.

(3) More durable. I haven't had either bottle more than a year to test durability, but my guess is that the Klean Kanteen's pure stainless steel composition will hold up longer. The Sigg is made with some kind of coating on the inside, which I imagine can only last so long.

4 out of 5 stars Klean Kanteen - great alternative to plastic water bottles   October 14, 2008
I think this product is a really good option to help the environment. I did buy the sports cap and since you can't squeeze the bottle you end up sucking the water out - it is a little hard to get used to but you do.
