4 out of 5 stars Great purchase   December 19, 2007
I bought these for my 2 toddler over a concern for the plastic cups and I am very pleased with them. They are easy to clean and use and the kids love them. The water tastes pure compared to water from the plastic cups which always seem to carry the tast of the plastic or our dish soap.

5 out of 5 stars Love them!   December 11, 2007

When I did research on water bottles, I found that Siggs could be put in the dishwasher. I've had good luck running my through the dishwasher, and washing off the lip in between. I will say, I don't use our bottles for anything but water.

My kids love the bottles and travel everywhere with them. They have replaced a lot of the useless Juice and Gatorade they drank with water, because now water is fun! Plus, we probably broke even in about 3 months by not buying water everywhere we went.

Every time I use mine I get compliments on it. The water stays colder than it does in a regular plastic bottle, and no sweating. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is currently using regular plastic water bottles.

4 out of 5 stars Safe and plastic-free, cute, not ideal top for young kids   December 3, 2007

I purchased the SIGG because I wanted a water bottle for my kids that was safe and Bisphenol A (BPA) free. I wanted to avoid all the dangerous plastics including #1 polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), #3 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and #6 polystyrene (PS).

I also wanted a bottle that was NOT made in China as that country seems to have no safety standards.

I had concerns about the SIGG liner, so I contacted SIGG via their online email and while they won't say exactly what is in their liner (it's a secret,) they did send me the following email, "We can ensure that non of any of these plastics DEHP, PET, PETE and PVC contains in our liner." (Forgive the English...he's Swiss and considering it was his 2nd language, he did a great job.)

So, I bought 4 bottles and love them. I know my kids don't have any dangerous plastic toxins leaking into their beverages. My only complaint and thus the lack of a 5 star review is the lid. For little kids, a sippy style lid would be much better. This one, if left open/unscrewed just pours water if not kept upright. My kids have a lot more spills now. But hey, that's a small price to pay to keep the toxins away and out of their bodies!

2 out of 5 stars Not quite what I had expected...   November 25, 2007

I bought one of these to try for my 18-month-old since it's made of aluminum and it says it is leak proof. However, the lid, when open, spills everywhere. It is fine for drinking water outside, but he spills it everywhere in the car. I intended to use them for milk, but since they leak, we have only used them for water. Another thing, my son who can open plastic water bottles, cannot open the lid himself so that makes him frustrated. I love the idea but will wait to buy more when he is older. Plus, it is expensive. Why can't anyone make a perfect non-leaking, better-for-baby sippy cup!?

1 out of 5 stars It's chipping!   November 15, 2007

After lots of research, I purchased my kids each a Sigg cup and a Klean Kanteen. While I like the LOOK of the Sigg cup better, I am so disappointed with the cup's performance. We haven't had these cups more than a couple of months and all ready there are dents and chipping paint. I know it has this "leach-proof liner," but I wonder how well it works when the cup is dented. My son's cup I can't even give him, as he is only 1 and I worry that he'll bite it and injest some of the chipping paint. I am so shocked that these cups get such great ratings. While I'd definitely buy another Klean Kanteen, I would never, ever buy a Sigg again, especially not for a young child. My daughter is older and more careful with hers, but even hers has a couple of spots where the paint is starting to wear. She does love her cup, a 20oz Sigg and will be so disappointed when I wind up tossing it. Sigg cups are so expensive. I expected that it would last for years, not merely a couple of months.
