4 out of 5 stars Great product   March 8, 2007

I had quite a bit of difficulty setting up the remote the first time and I didn't feel I got very good help from Logitech. Once I figured out the setup, it has worked great! If I didn't have this remote, I would have to tell my wife and kids (and myself) everyday how to turn things on to watch TV, or play a DVD, or play Playstation. It really takes all the guesswork out. It even works the power on the Playstation 2. I give it four stars because it can be a little difficult understanding the program on the computer - but the remote works great!

I've had to restart this remote by taking the batteries out due to it freezing. Other than that, it is ok.

4 out of 5 stars Easy and pretty comprehensive   March 8, 2007
This is so easy to set up and even easier to use! My wife can't seem to remember that the cable box controls the channel not the TV. Now we don't have to worry about that. All the functions are as simple as two button clicks away. The motion sensing light is pretty cool too.

The only down sides to this are the primary button arrangement, screen size, and the lack of easy programing of deep menu functions. I think the activity selection buttons are to small for bottons that are used so often. I would also like to see a bigger screen. Some functions for the TV or stereo are more dificult to program. For instance to change the sound field effect fo the stereo or to change the screen aspect on the TV. These functions are simple on the TV or stereos' native remote and not so simple on the Harmony 550.

Overall a great remote for a great price. We may get another for the bedroom in a couple of months.

1 out of 5 stars Started out great!   March 6, 2007

I received the remote in January. I found it easy to program, all the devices I own were in the database. I found the remote *very* useful once you learn how to use it. However, it now locks up about 3 times a day. I'm hoping Amazon will come through for me and exchange it, if so I may buy the more sophisticated color model. I would recommend that anyone considering this or another Logitech remote take a look at the forums on logitech.com first...

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Remote   March 4, 2007
I am using this remote to control my Sony TV, Direct TV box, Onkyo Receiver and Toshiba DVD player. The activities button sounded like a gimmick, but is actually quite useful. Loading the devices via the included SW was painless. I even entered a wrong model number for my Direct TV box and it corrected it for me. Absolutely no issues, highly recommended.
