5 out of 5 stars Very good quality   December 4, 2007
I know I did not need it but still bought it. But I still think it's a must have for everybody.

The quality is as good as they say. Very sturdy and balanced. Extremely pleased with it.

5 out of 5 stars i purchased it for someone   October 11, 2007

my co worker always complained about how all his umbrellas broke in the wind. It has been a few winters since the purchase and still he has the same umbrella.

It is a two in one, when the wind comes in, the flops lift just enough for the wind to get by and the umbrella remains intact. It is a bit heavy, but that makes it very, very strong. Great product. Would buy it for myself, but I always forget my umbrellas every where I go. It is pricey, but If you take care of your things, get it.

4 out of 5 stars GOOD NOT GREAT   October 9, 2007
This is a good umbrella. It is big and works well. Just don't expect to get more than a season out of it. But if you have ever priced real umbrellas from London you would be OK with that. I have been through 3 of these and will likely get another. { YES I know I should use the guarantee but am lazy.} Problems are : Tip cap breaks almost instantly [ I tape a metal cap over it first thing.] The tip is not really critical to the umbrellas function except for poking. The moulded plastic joints break as they are very thin where they hinge. The handle is real wood but white wood and the dark varnish will shred off the first time you drop it on pavement [ OK by me, I just sand it ugly, but you could give it a more durable finish if you care about that sort of thing.] The hold open mechanism is plastic and one of mine ceased to function after a year or so. On the positive side it is BIG. The handle handles well. The shaft and ribs are fiberglass and not about to break. The canopy takes BIG wind well [ but it may take you away with it ] Strong fabric holds up well. All in this is a pretty good umbrella. If you want to hand your umbrella down to the grandchildren expect to pay WELL over 200 bucks for it.

5 out of 5 stars It is the best Unbrella.   May 7, 2007
I'm very happy with this umbrella you never have to get another one because it is well made.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty nice, but...   May 7, 2007

I finally broke down and bought a decent umbrella for the torrential downpours we get here in CT. I was using little $5 umbrellas and going through them at the rate of 1 every two or three good storms. This one survived a real beast a few weeks ago, and feels like it will perform well for a while. only one complaint. The plastic tip sucks. Cracked the first day I took it to work. You'd think a company that had been making umbrellas this long would know to use metal tips. I took a star for the plastic tip.
